R. Wade Johnson Design Architecture, Interiors and Planning to renovate 12,000 s/f steakhouse

November 19, 2007 - Long Island
Ruth's Chris Steak House, Inc. is teaming with the dynamic, Melville-based, design firm of R. Wade Johnson Design Architecture, Interiors and Planning P.C., to renovate the interior of its NYC landmark restaurant on 51st St. Working closely with Ruth's Chris local and corporate management to integrate their needs and vision for this high end restaurant, the RWJD design team - headed by founder and president Wade Johnson - is focused on reinvigorating "the sizzle that sets them apart from the stuffy, stodgy, old-line steakhouses" (Ruth Fertel, founder of Ruth's Chris Steak House franchise). Ruth's Chris management is responding to recent market trends which indicate that a staple of the American dinner is meat and steakhouses, in particular, are enjoying a resurgence of popularity as baby boomer's use their prodigious buying power to dine out often and well. The significant renovations to the steakhouse will introduce lightness of space and ambiance, complimentary textures and a renewed vibrancy to the private rooms, dining areas and public spaces while respecting the classic bones of the 12,000 s/f space. Plans call to update the existing traditional finishes with a contemporary twist in the fixtures, lighting, artwork and finishes. Ruth's Chris management is also taking this opportunity to add updated technology to rooms with the addition of plasma TV's in several rooms. The renovation project is scheduled to be completed in time to celebrate the holidays later this year. The architectural and design firm has successfully completed a number of projects in this niche market over the years. Current and recent projects include the renovation of the Morgan's Group's Royalton Hotel, the Times Square and Marriott East River hotels, the Dos Caminos and Primehouse restaurants and a Meatpacking District nightclub.
