Empire National Bank sponsors police awards

Empire National Bank was the sponsor of the recent 15th annual Theodore Roosevelt Police Awards. Presented by the Theodore Roosevelt Association, the Friends of Sagamore Hill and in cooperation with the National Park Service, the award symbolizes Theodore Roosevelt's own triumph over illness and his service as president of the board of Police Commissioners of New York City. Yearly recognition is given to a Nassau and Suffolk County police officer who remains on active duty after overcoming a major physical challenge or handicap. The 2009 honorees are Suffolk County Detective Robert Sehy and Nassau County Police Officer Edward Hartmann. "It's a great honor for Empire National Bank to sponsor this event. These police officers have overcome extraordinary obstacles in their in their quest to return to active duty. They exemplify the spirit of Theodore Roosevelt and serve as an inspiration for all of us," said Douglas Manditch, the bank's chairman and CEO.
