East Rutherford, N.J.-based Mc Gowan Builders, Inc. held the Mc Gowan Builders 7th Charitable Golf Classic at Emerson Golf Club. The popular annual event raised approximately $100,000 for organizations supporting individuals and families living with Down Syndrome. The beneficiaries include The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation, headquartered in East Rutherford, N.J.; The Stepping Stones Early Intervention and School in Livingston, N.J.; and Sisters of La Sagesse Services Cregg House in Sligo, Ireland.
The golf outing brought together nearly 150 leading New Jersey and greater New York area real estate, architecture, and construction professionals. Patrick Mc Gowan, The Loretta Mc Gowan Foundation board chairman and Mc Gowan Builders president and CEO, addressed the attendees: "Thank you all for your generous contributions to the cause of Down Syndrome support and research. The funds we raised today will help children and adults with developmental disabilities experience happier and more fulfilling lives."
Mc Gowan also read a letter from Marie Gilligan of Sisters of La Sagesse Services Cregg House in Sligo, one of the recipients of funds raised during the Mc Gowan Builders 6th Charitable Golf Outing in 2008. Cregg House used the funds to purchase a wheelchair-accessible van for use by teenagers and adults with both developmental and physical disabilities.
