June 5, 2009 - Brokerage
The New York area chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS-NY) will host its annual chapter meeting on Wednesday, June 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Steelcase WorkLife Center, 4 Columbus Cir.
"2008-09 was an especially exciting year for SMPS-NY," said chapter president Lauren Hlavenka, assoc. AIA, director of marketing for Handel Architects.
The annual meeting is the chapter's opportunity to review achievements, set goals for the year ahead, and introduce the incoming leadership. Voting for the new officers and board members will take place before the event via an online balloting survey, and the results will be announced at the event.
The annual chapter meeting is organized by SMPS-NY's special events committee, which is chaired by Kristin Liu, senior marketing coordinator at Syska Hennessy Group, Inc.
The cost for this annual celebration is free for SMPS members who pre-register, $25 for SMPS members who walk in, and $25 for non-members (either pre-registered or walk-in). Admission includes the event, drinks and cocktail snacks.
"In addition to celebrating our 25th anniversary as an organization, we launched our mentorship program, held several superb and well-attended panels with client companies and agencies, and helped marketers connect during these tough economic times through our new LinkedIn group. Indeed, while SMPS is always important to its members, it's during times like this that it is especially valuable. I am proud to have been able to play a part in it," said Hlavenka.
The SMPS is a source of educational and networking opportunities for marketing professionals employed by firms serving the built and natural environment. The N.Y. area chapter, founded in 1984, serves marketing professionals who live or work in N.Y.C., northern N.J., Long Island and Westchester. The chapter has more than 250 members from more than 220 of the area's leading architectural, engineering, and construction firms. For more information, please visit www.smpsny.org.
