Commissioner Carballada cuts ribbon for Creative Hands grand opening
May 22, 2009 - Brokerage
City economic development commissioner Carlos Carballada welcomed Creative Hands Custom Window Fashions to the Dewey Ave. commercial area. Carballada joined owner Debbie DiFrancesco for the ribbion cutting grand opening ceremony of her custom window treatment store at 1011 Dewey Ave. Creative Hands includes an in-house drapery workroom where high quality custom window treatments are produced.
Creative Hands markets its wares to the five-county metropolitan area and is a certified Hunter Douglas Centurion Gallery Dealer, which makes them one of fewer than 400 gallery dealers within the U.S. The business began in DiFrancesco's home in 1990 and then moved to 1665 Dewey Ave. in October, 2000. Having grown out of that former space, the business moved to its present location to allow more space for a workroom and a showroom.
The city provided matching grant funding to assist with the renovations. Creative Hands plans to generate two to four full-time jobs within two years.
