Stuyvesant Fuel Service Corporation has formed a Delivery Integrity Division (D.I.D.) to oversee all phases of the company's transportation process, according to Martin Rosenman, president of Stuyvesant, a leading distributor of natural gas and heating oil in the New York metropolitan area.
In creating the new division, Stuyvesant has leased and will operate a fleet of 30 trucks. The company is scheduled to open a 25,000 s/f garage to house the vehicles. Identifiable by the familiar Stuyvesant logo, the trucks are state-of-the-art delivery vehicles, all having gone through and passed inspection at the Department of Weights and Measures and equipped with the latest technology such as global positioning system (GPS).
"We are pleased to introduce the Delivery Integrity Division at Stuyvesant Fuel," said Rosenman. "Not only does it provide us with essential control over the efficiency and integrity of our deliveries, it underscores the importance Stuyvesant has long placed on customer service."
The new division will be headed by Jim Carey, an industry veteran formerly with a large oil company in the metropolitan area. D.I.D. personnel will check GPS reports of all trucks, audit delivery and pickup logs and check for inventory left on the trucks. The new systems will reaffirm Stuyvesant's commitment to provide the best service possible.
"With the addition of the transportation division, our customers will be even better served," said James Slattery, executive vice president of Stuyvesant.
The sentiments are echoed by Lou Romano, industry veteran and Stuyvesant executive vice president.
"I'm especially pleased for our customers. The new division will make us an even better, stronger company going forward," said Romano.
Stuyvesant's commitment to the accuracy of deliveries and its introduction of the Delivery Integrity Division has drawn praise in the industry.
"I am a long-time Stuyvesant customer and I manufacture the Verifier fuel gauge. I trust Stuyvesant's deliveries because they welcome independent verification," said Jerry Pindus, president of US Energy Group and TedPin Realty. "They were the first oil company to recognize the industry's need for a system of checks and balances in oil deliveries."
Founded in 1934, Stuyvesant has grown to be one of the largest heating oil and natural gas distributors in the New York metropolitan area. Based in the Bronx, the company serves a variety of customers, including large commercial properties, major cooperative and condominium complexes and universities.
