Binghamton, NY The Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce made known, the 39th class of the Broome Leadership Institute.

Broome Leadership Institute (BLI) is a six-month community leadership program administered by the Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program (GBEOP), a workforce and education nonprofit affiliate of the Chamber. The six-month program is designed to develop enthusiastic and well-informed leaders who are committed to making positive contributions to the community. A select number are chosen for each class, which runs from September through March with two full-day sessions each month.

Sessions are designed to immerse participants in the topic of the day by holding the session at relevant locations and inviting key players in that industry or topic area to present to the class. Topics covered include: agriculture, arts, economic and business development, government, healthcare, and more.

“Celebrating 39 years of the Broome Leadership Institute — what an incredible milestone! BLI has been a cornerstone academy for empowering young talent and community leaders across our community. It brings together a true network of changemakers dedicated to actively shaping the future landscape of Broome County. Congratulations to the team on another remarkable class of leaders,” said Matt Sheehan, president of the GBEOP board of directors.

“We are thrilled to announce our 39th Broome Leadership Institute class. BLI participants leave the program with a deeper understanding of our region, and an enhanced opportunity to drive positive change in Greater Binghamton,” Stacey Duncan, president and CEO of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m very excited about the diverse group individuals participating in BLI’s 39th season. The purpose of BLI is to create leaders that can address the challenges and opportunities facing the community,” said Ellie White, workforce and talent manager for GBEOP. “BLI fosters pride and a sense of belonging in the region. We have 23 individuals who, through their current experience, will gain more knowledge of the community, while greatly enriching the BLI program.”

The BLI Class of 2027 participated in the kick-off retreat facilitated by the Children’s Home on September 24th. The first BLI class will focus on Agriculture on October 1st.
