Manhattan, NY Multifamily developers, lenders, community leaders, government partners, and others committed to expanding access to affordable housing for New Yorkers will gather at the nonprofit NYC Housing Partnership’s Leadership & Legacy Reception Benefit on Thursday, October 22. The function starts at 6 pm at Versa NYC, at 218 West 35th St. The event recognizes the Gotham Organization with the Partnership’s Public Policy Leadership Award for its Monitor Point multifamily mixed-income development in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

The October 22 event also honors Jamie Smarr’s leadership and welcomes Molly Wasow Park as the Housing Partnership’s president and CEO. Dina Levy, NYC Housing Preservation & Development commissioner, will be the featured speaker.

Monitor Point is a master-planned, mixed-use waterfront community at 40 and 56 Quay St. in Greenpoint,  developed through a public-private partnership among the Gotham Organization, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Greenpoint Monitor Museum.

Monitor Point will provide a total of 1,324 new homes, including 662 affordable units, in two waterfront multifamily buildings. Affordable units range across income levels, including deeply affordable and senior housing, as well as 110 homes reserved for those who experienced homelessness. The West Building will include approximately 958 mixed-income homes, with roughly 30% affordable. The East Building will provide 366 homes, 100% affordable.

“The Gotham Organization’s Monitor Point development will deliver significant affordable housing opportunities, expanding access to quality homes for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers,” said Park. “Gotham demonstrates how thoughtful development such as Monitor Point advances community revitalization and housing equity. Monitor Point is a model for leveraging public assets, private investment, and community collaboration through a public-private partnership that addresses the city’s housing crisis.”

“The October 22 Reception Benefit supports expansion of the Housing Partnership’s key programmed activities such as our counseling and education program for first-time homebuyers,” said Park.

The NYC Housing Partnership is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves as an intermediary among public agencies, developers, financial institutions and residents to increase opportunities for quality affordable housing to low- and moderate-income households in New York City.
