2026 Women in Commercial Real Estate: Kim Galton, Houlihan Lawrence Commercial
Director of Retail
Houlihan Lawrence Commercial
What was the most rewarding project or deal you’ve worked on in the past 12 months, and why?
The most rewarding project I’ve worked on this year was the sale of the Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, CT. The property is situated on a private hilltop overlooking 11 acres of rolling hills in Litchfield County in the northwest hills of Connecticut. This 38-room country inn was known for hosting weddings, retreats, and its proximity to Lime Rock Park, making it a high-visibility site. The sale of the Inn went through many complex negotiations with both seller and buyer, as well as the Town for final approvals.
I represented the sellers who owned the Inn for over 25 years.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate?
I would tell them to “find their lane”. You can’t be all things to all people, but if you find your passion and what you’re good at, you will succeed. I would also tell them to learn from their mistakes and not dwell on lost opportunities - there are plenty of new ones out there!
What leadership lesson has made the greatest impact on your career?
I believe the best leaders are the ones who know how to listen, and then guide with support. I have held a number of management roles in my career and learned many lessons along the way!
What trend or change in commercial real estate do you believe will have the biggest impact over the next five years?
I believe AI and search technology will continue to have an impact in commercial real estate and those who use it wisely will be ahead of the game!
