What leadership lesson has made the greatest impact on your career?
Early in my career, I was told not to worry about business development because the work would “just come” from working with my mentor. One of the most valuable lessons I learned, though, is that lasting success doesn’t “just come” – it requires consistently investing in your expertise, your relationships, and your reputation. Opportunities may come because of the trust you’ve built, but that trust is earned over time through hard work, responsiveness, and a genuine commitment to serving your clients and staying connected to your community.
What advice would you give to the next generation of women entering commercial real estate?
Get involved early – business opportunities are there for the taking. Commercial real estate is a relationship-driven industry, and one of its greatest strengths is the network of women across its many sectors. I’ve found that women in this industry are remarkably innovative, collaborative, and generous with their time and advice. Join industry organizations, attend events, seek mentors, and be willing to mentor others. The connections you build will open doors, broaden your perspective, and strengthen your career.
What trend or change in commercial real estate do you believe will have the biggest impact over the next five years?
I think the biggest trend over the next 5 years will be the convergence of technology, data, and sustainability with traditional real estate. The stakeholders - investors, lenders, owners, and tenants – are demanding greater transparency, operational efficiency, and resilience. Those who can adapt, embracing innovation while remaining focused on strong relationships and sound fundamentals, will be best positioned to succeed in an increasingly dynamic environment with shifting policies, tax incentives, and regulatory priorities.
