What trends or opportunities do you see shaping the future of your industry?
The construction industry is being shaped by increasing project complexity, rising material costs, and ongoing cash flow pressures stemming from billing and collection delays. We’re also seeing more joint ventures as companies pursue larger projects and meet bonding requirements. At the same time, technology is transforming how we work; AI, automation, and real-time project tracking are improving visibility and efficiency. Professionals who combine strong technical expertise with adaptability and a relationship-focused approach will be best positioned to drive value in the years ahead.
What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry, and what path brought you to your current role?
I began my career search during my senior year of college, where I discovered Grassi and was drawn to its strong presence in the Long Island market. While I initially expected to pursue manufacturing and distribution, my interest shifted quickly during my first busy season, when I worked on a large construction client. I delivered two in-depth training presentations on WIP schedules and cost-to-complete concepts, strengthening both my technical knowledge and confidence. I also oversaw a client’s transition to percentage-of-completion accounting, working directly with leadership to clarify financial impacts. Beyond client work, I helped plan a Professional Women in Construction NYC event, strengthening my connection to the industry and supporting opportunities for others.
Who has been a mentor or influential figure in your career, and what is the most valuable advice they have shared with you?
Barbara Durante, a construction advisory & accounting senior manager, has been a key mentor in my career, and her passion for the construction industry has greatly influenced my development. What stands out most is her emphasis on building genuine relationships with clients. She consistently reinforces the importance of listening, asking thoughtful questions, and connecting on a personal level. Those conversations build trust and make it easier to navigate complex audit discussions. I’ve learned that combining technical expertise with a people-focused approach leads to stronger, more effect
