Legion Investment Group tops out 550 West 21st Street in West Chelsea

Manhattan, NY Legion Investment Group has officially topped off 550 West 21st St., marking a milestone for the West Chelsea development. The 23-story condominium building, designed inside and out by Thomas Juul-Hansen, will feature 83 residences at the center of New York City’s gallery district, near the High Line, Chelsea Piers, Chelsea Market, the Meatpacking District, the West Village, and Hudson Yards.
“550 West 21st St. occupies one of the last remaining waterfront sites of scale in West Chelsea, and watching it rise to its full height at the intersection of the gallery district and the Hudson River has been incredibly rewarding. We set out to build something of real quality and enduring design that is worthy of this neighborhood and the waterfront, and we look forward to sharing more details in the months ahead,” said Victor Sigoura, founder and CEO of Legion Investment Group.
Positioned between Hudson River Park and the High Line, 550 West 21st St. rises in hand-laid brick and Indiana limestone, its façade stepping back as the tower climbs to reveal a series of private loggias and terraces that extend living spaces outward toward the water. Glass railings preserve uninterrupted sightlines, while the consistent use of brick and limestone carries warmth through to the crown, framing expansive views of the Hudson River, Little Island, and the Midtown skyline. At street level, a limestone base anchors the building to the sidewalk, and a gatehouse structure frames the entrance to a private motor court and landscaped courtyard. Birch trees and tiered planting beds introduce depth, enclosure, and seasonal variation, softening the transition from street to residence. More than 75 percent of residences include private outdoor space, with two-thirds offering direct views of the Hudson River.
Legion Investment Group is one of the most active developers in Manhattan, bringing thoughtfully designed buildings to the most desirable residential neighborhoods. Its portfolio includes 1122 Madison Ave., a 26-unit condominium building on the Upper East Side, where 85% of residences are already in contract; 11 West 13th St., a new tower in Greenwich Village developed in partnership with EJS Group; and 38 Gramercy Park East, the first ground-up condominium on Gramercy Park in nearly a century.
Sales at 550 West 21st St. are expected to launch this fall and will be exclusively led by Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group. The building is slated for completion in late-2027.
