Fairstead hires Kinard as senior director of public housing

Manhattan, NY Fairstead appointed affordable housing expert Keith Kinard as senior director of public housing. 

Fairstead is a purpose-driven real estate firm dedicated to building affordable communities across the country. Fairstead owns, manages, and has in pre-development more than 30,000 units across 28 states.

With nearly 30 years of experience in public housing leadership, Kinard will oversee Fairstead’s public housing practice, focused on structuring innovative partnerships between public housing authorities and private-sector stakeholders through RAD conversions and other PBV/HAP opportunities.

Kinard brings a scaled track record across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, having overseen more than 13,000 public housing units and 12,000 Housing Choice Vouchers. He has led over $750 million in affordable and mixed-income development, utilizing tools such as RAD, HOPE VI, and Choice Neighborhoods, and driven an additional $200 million in renewable energy investments. Previously with Winn Development, he remains active in Washington, D.C. through his board role with the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA).

Kinard has previously served as executive director/CEO for the Housing Authorities of Morristown, Summit, Newark (NJ), and Pittsburgh (PA).

Prior to joining Fairstead, Kinard led public housing initiatives across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for Winn Development. He serves on the boards of the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) in Washington, D.C., the PNC Bank Community Investment Board, and the Community Development Block Grant Board of Union County, NJ.
