Markatos of Skyline Restoration honored in Crain’s 2026 Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering & Construction

Long Island City, NY Spiro Markatos, president of Skyline Restoration has been honored by Crain’s New York Business in its highly selective listing of 2026 Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering and Construction. All honorees were chosen by an impartial group of editors. Criteria to qualify include being in a senior leadership role, having demonstrated significant impact on the industry and having made contributions to better the community at large. 

In its introduction to the listing, Crain’s notes that “the city’s evolution has always relied on its architects, engineers and builders.” It continues, “Our 2026 Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering and Construction are pushing that work forward each day. The honorees featured here are preserving historic sites, transforming offices into housing, advancing affordable development, delivering sustainable, community-focused design and more.”

The listing highlights Markatos’ “Big win” as having “strategically amplified Skyline Restoration’s scope, leading to significant growth.”

His profile notes among his achievements: increased Skyline Restoration’s revenue to more than $150 million annually; completed landmark façade restorations, structural concrete rehabilitations and major building envelope conversions; and expanded the firm’s presence across the Eastern Seaboard.

Markatos oversees Skyline Restoration’s strategic vision and operations, leading over 500 field workers, subcontractors, project managers and staff. He is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology International and serves on the boards of The Skyline Charitable Foundation, IIBEC (International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants) and NYCSRA (New York City Special Riggers Association).
