Syosset, NY For more than five decades, the Children’s Medical Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping critically ill children and their families at Cohen Children’s Medical Center has helped transform pediatric care on Long Island. This year, the organization is celebrating a family whose impact has helped shape that mission for more than 30 years.
On Monday, June 15, 2026, CMF will host its 51st Annual Golf & Tennis Charity Classic at Glen Oaks Club, honoring Steve and Jason Lifton for their longstanding commitment to improving the lives of critically ill children and their families.
Children’s Medical Fund has raised more than $90.5 million since its inception. Those efforts helped establish Long Island’s first pediatric emergency department and pediatric MRI facility with groundbreaking advancements designed not only to provide lifesaving treatment, but also to create a more compassionate and comforting environment for children from infancy through young adulthood.
Today, CMF is focused on another urgent need: pediatric behavioral health. The organization recently pledged $5 million toward the hospital’s new behavioral mental health center, an initiative aimed at expanding access to critical mental health services for children and adolescents at a time when demand continues to rise nationwide.
“This is about making sure children and families have access to the care they need when they need it most,” organizers said.
This year’s event carries deep personal significance for both the Lifton family and the organization. Children’s Medical Fund is proud to honor Steve Lifton, managing director of Cambridge Wilkinson and president of The Lifton Financial Group, and Jason Lifton, director of real estate development & construction at Elliott Management, for their longstanding commitment to CMF and its mission. Steve has served the organization as chairman, president, and board member, while the Lifton family’s involvement with CMF spans more than 30 years.
The occasion is made even more meaningful with the announcement that CMF’s humanitarian distinction will officially be renamed “The Martin Lifton Humanitarian Award” in tribute to the late Martin Lifton, one of CMF’s founding members and a driving force behind the charity’s early growth. The recognition reflects three generations of philanthropic leadership and stands as a testament to the enduring partnership between the Lifton family and Children’s Medical Fund, as well as the impactful work CMF has carried out for children and their families for more than 50 years.
Organizers say the 2026 Charity Classic will not only celebrate the Lifton family legacy, but also reaffirm CMF’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that critically ill children receive world-class care close to home.
