2026 Ones to Watch - Industry Leaders: Kate Mecke, Keller Augusta
Senior Director
Keller Augusta
“Kate has a strong instinct for aligning talent with the evolving needs of real estate platforms, bringing clarity and discipline to every search. Her judgment, consistency, and follow-through have made her a trusted partner to clients navigating growth, change, and an increasingly competitive landscape for top talent.”
How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization?
I try to lead with relatability and humility. By being open about my own mistakes and weaknesses, I aim to create an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions and learning openly. When egos get in the way, collaboration suffers and people tend to hide missteps rather than address them. To me, a strong team is about recognizing and leveraging different strengths — not proving others wrong, but working better together.
What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate?
In my time in real estate recruitment, I’ve had the opportunity to see many careers take off, and one consistent driver of success is building a strong network. Having people who can advocate for you, flag opportunities, and make meaningful introductions is invaluable. I often think of a network like compounding interest — it’s important to start early and invest in it consistently, because over time your connections grow exponentially, as does the value they can provide.
What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader?
Small talk gets a bad rap, but connecting before diving into work sets the tone for the day.
