What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community?
Over the past year, I’ve focused on scaling OakNorth’s US originations platform and supporting a growing cohort of leading lending partners, including Oak Funding, Module Five Capital, DAC Developments and Melrose Ascension Capital. Across a range of transactions — from complex office-to-residential conversions in New York to flexible credit facilities for private lenders — we’ve helped clients execute on their growth ambitions while continuing to build OakNorth’s reputation as a trusted, solutions-oriented capital provider in the US market.
What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader?
I make a point of staying close to both our clients and the market on a daily basis.
What is one major challenge you’ve overcome as a leader, and what did it teach you?
Navigating sustained volatility across the US real estate and private credit markets has been a defining challenge. Rapid shifts in interest rates, liquidity, and sentiment require constant adaptation, while maintaining a disciplined approach to underwriting. By staying close to our clients and focused on fundamentals, we’ve been able to remain agile and identify opportunities where others may hesitate, consistently delivering tailored financing solutions despite an uncertain and evolving market backdrop.
How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization?
I aim to create an environment where people feel empowered to take ownership, think critically, and challenge assumptions. In complex transactions, success comes from understanding the full picture, not just the numbers, so I encourage curiosity and open dialogue across the team. By leading collaboratively and staying close to both clients and execution, I try to help others build confidence, develop their judgment, and deliver consistently strong outcomes.
What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate?
Focus on building a deep understanding of fundamentals while staying adaptable to change. The market will move through cycles, but disciplined underwriting, strong relationships, and a long-term mindset will always matter. Be curious, ask questions, and take the time to understand the full context behind every deal. Just as importantly, build trust—this is a relationship-driven industry, and credibility is earned through consistency, transparency, and delivering on what you say you’ll do.

I draw more from CRE market-driven insights than any single source of podcast etc.

Leaders who combine strong credit discipline with an entrepreneurial mindset.
