Cohen & Perfetto LLP recently represented The Roman Catholic Church of St. Catherine of Siena in the purchase of a condominium unit in a new Sloan-Kettering cancer research building at 411-415 E. 68th St.
The "church unit" will serve as St. Catherine's offices and community room, as well as the priory house to St. Catherine's large staff of priests who service the areas three major hospitals. The 17,400 s/f condominium unit was purchased from Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research. The site of the new building was originally sold to Sloan-Kettering by St. Catherine's subject to St. Catherine's right to buy back the church unit.
"This was an excellent opportunity for St. Catherine's and Sloan-Kettering to work together to expand both of their facilities," said Marshall Cohen, who worked on the deal for Cohen & Perfetto.
Cohen, a partner at Cohen & Perfetto, and Stefanie Marazzi, an associate attorney, represented St. Catherine of Siena. Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research was represented by Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.
