2026 Developing Long Island: Farmingdale State College – Rehabilitate Campus Commons

March 31, 2026 - Spotlight Content

East Farmingdale, NY Construction has begun on a transformative gut renovation to breathe new life into one of Farmingdale State College’s oldest standing structures: the “Campus Commons.”

Originally constructed in 1936 and designated the Agricultural Equipment Building, its physical form is reminiscent of a traditional barn structure, with a gambrel roof and symmetrical fenestration. FCA’s architecture and interior design vision reimagines the Campus Commons as a modern workplace while preserving and celebrating the institution’s deep agricultural heritage.

The renovation will reconfigure the interior to support the building’s new programmatic needs; reclad the facades and roof to enhance thermal performance and present a welcoming working environment; and install new mechanical, plumbing, electric, fire protection, fire alarm, and telecommunications systems throughout the building.
