2026 Women in Construction: Mary Kate Ginnane, Levine Builders
Assistant Project Manager
Levine Builders
What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about, and why does it matter for your team, clients or community?
I am extremely proud of our team’s accomplishment on the 311 11th Ave. project in NYC, a 60-story, 938-unit building that features indoor and outdoor amenity spaces. This project was especially rewarding as it is the largest I have worked on to date. Even more meaningful is the development’s affordable housing component, bringing a beautiful new construction residential building to individuals and families who might not otherwise have access to housing of this quality.
What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today?
I wish more women were aware of how many opportunities exist in today’s construction industry. There are various aspects of construction that go far beyond skilled labor, including estimating, accounting, compliance, project management and site safety. Internships can give students valuable exposure to these roles and help guide them toward potential career paths in construction. Construction companies are more inclusive than ever, and the industry continues to expand opportunities for women at every level.
What emerging challenge or opportunity do you see shaping the construction industry in the next few years, and how are you preparing for it?
One of the biggest challenges I see shaping the future of the construction industry is the growing demand for affordable housing. As the cost of living continues to rise, many families are being priced out of safe, stable housing. Addressing the issue will require collaboration with developers, local and federal governments and community partners to plan, build and deliver affordable, high-quality housing for low-income individuals, seniors and disabled individuals.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity?
Running with my run club keeps me energized and grounded. It’s about both the connection and the movement.
