2026 Women in Construction: Chase Kaars Valencia, BR Design Associates
Senior Project Manager
BR Design Associates
What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about, and why does it matter for your team, clients or community?
I’m most excited about our work at Marx Realty’s 10 Grand Central, a trend-setter in redefining the office through hospitality-driven design. I led the delivery of multiple prebuilt suites that make the workplace feel more like home, aligning with Marx’s signature approach — including curated amenities and a recognizable identity. These award-winning environments, recognized by multiple BOMA honors, support leasing velocity while setting a new benchmark for experiential workplace design.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry?
Trust your expertise and don’t be afraid to use your voice early. Construction thrives on collaboration, and diverse perspectives lead to stronger outcomes. Build a solid technical foundation, ask questions, and seek mentors who advocate for your growth. Confidence comes with experience, but preparation accelerates it. Most importantly, remember that leadership is not about fitting into the industry — it’s about helping shape a more inclusive, innovative future.
What habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated during a busy week?
I start each day with clear priorities, stick to consistent routines, and pivot as needed to manage shifting timelines.
Share one fun or unexpected detail about yourself that colleagues might not know.
I love traveling for design inspiration — and I speak Dutch, which always surprises people.
