Brookhaven IDA closes on pact for structural steel fabricator’s expansion
Farmingville, NY According to Frederick Braun III, chairman of the Town of Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA), the IDA has closed on a package of economic development benefits for a North Bellport-based business that designs and fabricates structural steel used in building construction.
The IDA closed on the benefits package on Jan. 22. The agency’s board approved the project on Dec. 3. Integrated Structures, currently at 4 Pinehurst Dr., will use the financial assistance to buy and equip a second facility, a vacant 19,000 s/f property at 17 Old Dock Rd., for $8.375 million.
Integrated Structures owner Francis Lee told the IDA that without the assistance, the company would seek an out-of-state location for its expansion.
“We are pleased for the second time in six years that we can assist Integrated Structures as it brings highly-skilled, well-paying manufacturing jobs to our town,” said Braun. “Attracting and retaining companies like Integrated Structures is essential in keeping the Brookhaven economy competitive and moving forward.”
Integrated Structures fabricates structural steel parts for public works projects such as train stations and bridges. Integrated Structures has provided steel parts for JFK International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, the Astoria train station, and more.
Integrated Structures, which currently has 62 employees, plans to add 11 more within two years following the renovation, which is expected to take 18 months. The new jobs would pay an average of $80,000 per year.
The Old Dock Rd. building previously housed an environmental services company.
