What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about, and why does it matter for your team, clients or community? The recently completed Good Samaritan Hospital Patient Care Pavilion holds special meaning for me. This five year project opened its doors to the community I’ve called home for decades in West Islip. Walking through the state of the art facilities for the first time was overwhelming in the best way. It also brought me full circle, reminding me of the care I received at Good Samaritan 30 years ago as a breast cancer patient. Being part of a project that elevates the standard of healthcare in my own community is deeply meaningful, both personally and professionally.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Traveling and spending time with my children and grandchildren are especially energizing and inspiring for me.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Make work–life balance a priority from the start. Our industry demands hard work and dedication, but it’s equally important to take your vacation days, enjoy holidays, and find time to rest and recharge. This is advice I not only give to young women entering the field — but to my own daughters, one of whom works in construction as well.
I also encourage women to get involved in their offices and join women’s networking or professional organizations. These spaces provide invaluable support, mentorship, and shared learning.
