What current or recently completed project, accomplishment or initiative are you most excited about, and why does it matter for your team, clients or community? Over the past number of years, EW Howell has proudly supported the annual Women Build for Habitat for Humanity event. I have been fortunate to participate alongside many hardworking women, including fellow EW Howell employees, engaging in hands-on work to make a difference in our communities. Last year, we contributed to the construction of 2 homes, one of which was nearly ready for occupancy the day that we were on site. I’ve been with EW Howell for 28 years, and while I’ve experienced many proud moments during my time here, Women Build remains a key highlight for me.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? Grabbing coffee and meeting my friend I’ve known for years, as well as taking nature walks, help bring balance to my life.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Build relationships, no matter where you go. This is one of the reasons why I’ve enjoyed my time with EW Howell; the people that I work with have become less like coworkers and more like extended family members. Through this, we’ve created a supportive environment where everyone can confidently rely on each other to complete tasks and uplift one another. Fostering this type of environment helps you take pride in your work, knowing that your contributions are critical to success. Like any family, everyone has a role to play, supporting a system that wouldn’t function otherwise.
