2026 Women in Construction: Linda Risi, EW Howell Co., LLC
Assistant Controller
EW Howell Co., LLC
What do you wish more women knew about the opportunities available in the construction industry today? Opportunities for women in construction are growing and show no signs of stopping anytime soon, but it can’t be overstated how incredibly diverse said opportunities are both on and off the job site. What shouldn’t go unnoticed is that administrative roles are key to the construction industry, as they support project execution and help ensure client satisfaction. Whether your interests lie in project management, safety, estimating, or accounting, among other fields, know that your talents will be valued and will help you find great success in our industry.
What is something outside of work that brings you energy, balance or creativity? I enjoy different forms of meditation, including guided meditation and singing bowls.
What is one piece of advice or perspective you would share with women beginning their careers in the construction industry? Going into my 52nd year at EW Howell, I can’t speak enough to how different the industry is from when I started. This is especially true regarding programs and software; what we used in the past may not be relevant in the current landscape. With this in mind, I would encourage women beginning their construction industry careers to maintain their education. Continue to learn about the systems in use while being mindful of those that may eventually become part of your routine. By doing so, you’re able to stay ahead as the industry evolves.
