Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club announces move to new, expanded home
Brooklyn, NY After more than 15 years of building a premier fencing community rooted in dedication, excellence, and shared passion, Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club (BBFC) announced plans to relocate to a new, significantly larger home in Brooklyn, marking a major milestone in the club’s continued growth and long-term vision. Founded by Olympian, Olympic Coach, and USA Fencing Hall of Famer Dan Kellner, BBFC has become a leading destination for fencers of all ages and skill levels in New York City.
In March 2026, BBFC will open the doors to its new facility on the semi-private sixth floor of 295 Front Street in Brooklyn. The nearly 8,000 s/f space with Manhattan views will be home to a 10-year lease and has been designed with the future in mind. The brand-new facility will feature 20 full-length fencing strips installed on a custom-built hardwood floor, creating one of the most expansive and modern fencing environments in New York City.
“This move represents far more than a change of address,” said Dan Kellner, owner of Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club. “It’s an investment in our athletes, our families, and the community that has made BBFC what it is today—and what it will become for decades to come.”
“Fencing has given our kids a strong sense of confidence, discipline, and resilience, which are all such important life skills,” said Tiffany, a parent of a 12-year-old sabre fencer and a 10-year-old foil fencer at BBFC. “They’ve built a meaningful circle of friends outside of school and genuinely look forward to attending practice. As a parent, it’s reassuring to see coaches who lead with patience, encouragement, and positivity.”
To help bring this vision to life, BBFC is inviting members and supporters to participate in a tax-deductible fundraising initiative through the Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Foundation, the club’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization helping bring fencing to underserved communities. Donors may contribute at the Gold ($5,000), Silver ($2,500), or Bronze ($1,750) levels, supporting the purchase and installation of competition-grade metal fencing strips, in the new facility. Gold donors sponsor a full strip and receive a dedicated engraved family plaque, while Silver and Bronze donors fund a half or one-third of a strip and share engraved recognition accordingly. All donors will be recognized with a permanent listing on the club’s Donor Plaque, invited to an exclusive pre-opening tour and the ribbon-cutting and plaque unveiling ceremony, acknowledged on a dedicated website page honoring their donation, a Thank You blog post, email, and everyone will receive a one-of-a-kind ceramic art piece handmade by BBFC owner Dan Kellner. Supporters’ generosity will help lay the foundation of BBFC’s new home and ensure the club continues to thrive for generations of fencers to come.
Founded in 2010 by Olympian, Olympic Coach, & U.S. Fencing Hall of Fame Member Dan Kellner, BBFC is committed to excellence in educating the next generation of fencers. Children as young as 5 years old start with Introductory Private Fencing Lessons where they learn en garde, advance, retreat, lunge, and recover, as well as rules & etiquette of fencing. Students can advance to an Introductory Fencing Package of two (2) Private Lessons and two (2) Group Classes. In Beginner Fencing Classes, children as young as 4 years old will have a great time fencing with each other, as well as blade work, footwork, and the rules and etiquette of fencing. All equipment is provided and classes are staffed by expert coaches, offered seven days a week.
BBFC also offers New York City’s only full-day fencing camps, where children participate in age- and skill-appropriate groups, consisting of instruction, games, conditioning and coordination exercises, footwork, blade work, tactics, and bouting.
