Arch Chemicals, a global biocides company with $1.5 billion in annual sales, has leased 87,600 s/f of warehouse and distribution space for a 10-year term at the former Valeo plant, 1555 Lyell Ave., owned by Maguire Family Properties.
Arch's 15-acre plant on McKee Rd. is one of the key manufacturing centers for their Treatment Products segment, producing the most widely used antidandruff agent in the world, as well as biocides used in building products and ingredients for cosmetic and personal care products. A need to improve logistics capability is prompting Arch's interest in the new warehouse and distribution site.
"Selection of the Lyell Ave. space from an initial list of alternative locations was made early on in the overall process, and after extensive negotiations over lease language, the transaction was consummated recently," said George Bowles, Jr., SIOR, of Bowles & Bowles, Inc., who represented Maguire. Full occupancy and use of the premises must await completion of leasehold improvements by the landlord, to include construction of six loading docks.
Arch's requirement was brought to Bowles' attention by Kirk Jenkins of Daum Commercial Real Estate Services in Phoenix, Ariz., through Arch's key logistics provider.
