Union Square Events, A Danny Meyer Concept, expands footprint to 82,000 s/f at Industry City
Brooklyn, NY According to Industry City, the 35-acre mixed-use campus in Sunset Park, Union Square Events, a Danny Meyer concept and part of the Compass Group family, has expanded its footprint to 82,000 s/f. The 13-year lease expansion underscores the brand’s continued investment in the city’s creative economy and the ongoing evolution of Industry City’s culinary scene.
Founded by restaurateur Danny Meyer in 2005, Union Square Events curates unique and customized catering and dining experiences for companies, venues, and events including Citi Field, the Whitney Museum, Delta Air Lines, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the New York Marriott Marquis, and more. The company first relocated its headquarters to Industry City in 2021, leasing 70,000 s/f. The 12,000 s/f expansion will further accommodate its growing catering and hospitality operations.
“Union Square Events’ continued investment at Industry City is particularly rewarding,” said Jeff Fein, senior vice president of leasing at Industry City. “To have such a prolific industry leader recommit to our campus validates what we’ve created — a place to lay stake, flourish, and grow.”
The expanded headquarters includes a 33,000 s/f commissary kitchen, a tasting room, a 120-seat employee dining room, and space for culinary incubator programs. The full 82,000 s/f footprint integrates kitchen, tasting, and office spaces under one roof.
“Industry City provides a unique blend of space, flexibility, and creative energy that enables our business to flourish,” said Anthony Mastellone, president of Union Square Events. “It’s a place where our culinary, sales, and operations teams can come together to collaborate and innovate within an inspiring community—drawing daily motivation from Brooklyn’s vibrant culinary scene. This expansion empowers us to continue redefining hospitality while remaining closely connected to the talent and ideas that make this city so dynamic.”
Union Square Events provides hospitality support to other tenants across the campus, including BSE Global, the parent company of the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty, and Barclays Center. Beyond its daily lunch program, Union Square Events maintains a collaborative partnership with BSE Global leaders, engaging in seasonal tastings that incorporate employee feedback to inform menu planning.
The expansion not only signals Union Square Events’ growth but also highlights Industry City’s role as a center of gravity for hospitality and culinary innovation. The campus is home to over 650 businesses and nearly 130,000 square feet of hospitality and culinary brands.
