Marcus Partners adds Schaefer as managing director, investments

Manhattan, NY Marcus Partners has welcomed Alex Schaefer to the firm as managing director, investments, and is responsible for leading acquisitions across the Metro New York market. He will work closely with Bill McAvoy, principal, Investments who currently leads acquisitions for the region.

Based in the firm’s Metro New York office, Schaefer is focused on sourcing acquisition and development opportunities in the industrial and multifamily sectors across the Tri-State Metro area as well as Metro Philadelphia.

Schaefer brings more than 15 years of real estate investment experience spanning multifamily, industrial, retail, and office asset classes. He joins Marcus Partners from AXA Investment Managers, where he served as vice president of investments, overseeing origination and execution of transactions across major U.S. markets. During his tenure, he originated more than $3 billion in transactions and led investments totaling over 2,000 multifamily units and 31 logistics properties with capitalization exceeding $2 billion.

Prior to AXA IM, Schaefer held senior acquisition roles at TKF Real Estate Investment, ALTO Real Estate Funds, and VEREIT, Inc., where he executed large-scale portfolio and single-asset transactions nationwide. He began his career at Cushman & Wakefield and holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.
