Printer specialist reinvents itself and expands company
December 29, 2008 - Brokerage
Robert Geiger started Scan-A-Chrome Color Inc. (Graphix Solutions) in 1977. For many years the company was a pre-press printer specializing in color separation with all its work coming from printers. With the advent of affordable, quality scanners available to the general public, color separation work was moving to obsolescence. The company reinvented itself by doing color printing of banners and posters for large companies specializing in digital printing and graphics. Clients include such giants as Sleepys, Fortunoff, Ben & Jerry's, Dior, Covergirl and the N.Y. Jets. Using the most current technology and highly trained staff, the company has found a major niche for its operations.
Graphix Solutions is proof positive that a manufacturer can survive and thrive in this economy- by staying current with technology, being flexible, and willing to adjust market strategies to fit changing needs. The change in the business has been so successful, that the company needed additional space and is moving to a 9,000 s/f building in Copiague with the help of Lehman Bros. (first mortgage for 50% of project cost) and L.I. Development Corp. (second mortgage for 40% under SBA 504 loan program). The low down payment (10%) required permits Graphix to keep its working capital intact for the expansion.
