Fetscher of Great American Brokerage completes NYC marathon
December 15, 2008 - Long Island
Paul Fetscher CCIM, SCLS, the president of Great American brokerage is at it again. Fetscher went for a run with about 36,000 friends and covered 26 miles and 385 yards of the New York City marathon. Actually this was Fetscher's 38th consecutive New York City Marathon. Over those almost 4 decades of the event he has placed as high as 14th overall. This was his 30th anniversary of his fastest time at New York having covered the distance in 2:25:58, and average of 5 minutes and 40 seconds per mile.
In Fetscher's words, "I run the same times I used to. I just don't cover the same distance."
So this year, while the leaders were finishing Fetscher was enjoying the sights in Queens with the Manhattan and Bronx portions still ahead of him. At his current pace, he gets to meet a lot more people along the way.
Although his fastest times are behind him, Fetscher continues to be active in the sport. He is co-founder of the Warren Street Social and Athletic Club, on the board of directors of the Greater Long Island Running Club and an active member of the Long Island Road Runners. He also is the founder of the Long Island Marathon and has the second fastest time ever run in the 35 runnings of that event.
