USGBC-LI hosts National Audubon Society LEED seminar - Nov. 6

The Long Island chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council hosted a special green building case study and expert panel discussion highlighting the National Audubon Society's LEED Platinum Commercial Interior Headquarters project on Thursday, November 6, at the Rust Auditorium in the North Shore Hospital. Attended by over 75 people, the event provided an overview and in-depth discussion of New York State's first non-profit organization to achieve the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification for a commercial interior. The National Audubon Society is one of the country's oldest and best-known wildlife conservation groups. "Through the use of an educational video produced for the project which earned a LEED Innovative and Design credit, other multimedia presentations and compelling discussions by the project team's visionaries, the event was the perfect opportunity for the audience to fully comprehend in laymen's terms a commercial interior project from concept to completion. The discussion covered understanding of landlord and tenant cooperation, review of systems, technologies and sustainable products used in construction, explanation of the advantages to employees and how to create and use a positive media message and use of public relations to secure greater returns on investment with green projects," said Richard Neuman of Relocation Management Solutions, the panel's moderator.
