Recent goal and impact:

I recently structured a series of leasehold condominium deals in New York, helping not-for-profits secure critical tax exemptions. This complex process required a deep understanding of real estate law and tax codes. The project created long-term value for our firm, positioning us as a leader in this niche area. Through negotiations, due diligence and creative problem-solving, we helped clients develop affordable housing, community centers, and cultural spaces, while protecting their holdings from excessive tax burdens. This work reinforced our commitment to socially conscious real estate.

Giving Back:

Participating in She Builds 2024 was a truly meaningful experience. This Bronx-based event brought together women in real estate to give back through hands-on work, revitalizing a neighborhood. As a real estate lawyer, I spend most of my time structuring deals, but this allowed me to step outside my usual role and contribute in a direct, physical way. It reminded me why I’m passionate about real estate - it’s not just about the financial success of a deal, but about creating spaces that bring people together, support local growth and improve living conditions for those who need it the most.

Best advice for new leaders:

Learning from diverse experiences helps you become an adaptable, empathetic and inspiring leader.

Sharing knowledge and expertise:

I’m passionate about giving back to the next generation of law students. I mentor through Cardozo Law School’s Women in Law Institute, helping law students navigate their careers. I also serve on the Real Estate Advisory Board of Yeshiva University, contribute to trade publications and speak at real estate law conferences. At Benesch, I’m involved in the Women’s Initiative Network, where we support women across practice groups. I believe strongly in the value of women uplifting women. I also co-chair the Hiring Committee for summer associates, mentoring new hires and guiding their growth.

“Laura brings unmatched creativity and precision to every deal she touches. Her work on complex condominium structures for not-for-profits reflects her rare ability to blend technical excellence with a deep commitment to community impact. She’s an invaluable asset to our team and our clients.” - Jeff Wild, Benesch.
