Manhattan, NY Reidy Contracting Group (RCG), a general contracting and construction management firm, has completed a premier amenity space in the Empire State Building. This amenity center fulfills its owner Empire State Realty Trust’s commitment to deliver a dynamic environment for tenants and elevate attraction and retention efforts through immersive experiences.
The newly completed space, part of Empire State Realty Trust’s competitive offering for tenants throughout the portfolio, is located on the building’s club level. This project offers tenants access to a multi-sport court that can transform into a town hall for 400 attendees, complete with a button-controlled bleacher system and drop-down screens. Other features include two Trackman golf simulators with turf flooring and floor-to-ceiling screens, three food and beverage lounges, and dedicated areas for private calls. A pantry serves the lounges and enhances tenant experiences with diverse dining options.
Artistic and architectural design elements accentuate the space’s grandeur. A two-story custom mosaic tile mural of the Empire State Building stands as a visual centerpiece, while a custom reception desk with metal trim greets visitors. Lounges throughout the space showcase bespoke millwork, custom metal and brass dividers inspired by the building’s exterior Art Deco design, and fluted tile around the back bar. Art Deco wallpaper adorns the ceilings in the dining area, while a custom NYC-themed wallpaper livens up the basketball court.
Engineering upgrades were critical to integrate these amenities with a respect to the building’s historic integrity and ongoing office operations. The project included installation of air handling units in the MER room on the sub cellar level to ensure seamless integration into the existing building system to optimize air quality and comfort. Custom acoustic solutions such as K13 ceilings and micro-perforated panels were added to maintain a serene environment despite the lively atmosphere.
“The RCG team is incredibly proud to be part of the Empire State Building’s legacy, helping shape its next chapter. Our dedication to precision and efficiency throughout this project has brought to life a stunning, one-of-a-kind experience for tenants while minimizing impact on building operations,” said Pat Reidy, president and owner of Reidy Contracting Group. “This project is a true industry showcase, one that combines craftsmanship, functionality, and the iconic style of this historic building.”
The space is now open exclusively for Empire State Building tenants and their employees, and serves as a remarkable hub that brings together work, recreation, and community. With its amenities and design, this tenant-only center is poised to become a differentiated offering for New York City commercial office.
