2024 Ones to Watch - Innovators in CRE: Mike Cook, Runwise
Chief Growth Officer and Co-Founder
Runwise
Mike Cook is the co-founder and chief growth officer of Runwise and is responsible for the company’s growth, vision and cohesive cross-functional go-to-market strategy. In addition, Cook oversees Runwise’s strategic, enterprise and national LP accounts.
Innovative Solution: With real estate responsible for nearly 40% of global CO2 emissions, owners and operators are faced with reducing their carbon footprint while keeping their buildings and operations running smoothly and efficiently as well as maintaining the safety of their tenants. At Runwise, we have created a “must-have” product independent of carbon impact, which has incentivized thousands of owners and operators to implement our technology. Now, our company is on track to be one of the largest reducers of carbon emissions in the US over the next couple of years and has been adopted at a national scale unlike so many other climate technologies in the real estate industry.
Innovative Outlook: Climate change will continue to impact real estate in a variety of ways, and therefore it’s crucial that the right technology is in place to help mitigate its impacts on the built world. I still see immense opportunity for innovation on this front for the commercial real estate sector, and am excited for our team here at Runwise to be a part of this movement to make our buildings more resilient against the effects of climate change.
“Under Mike Cook’s leadership, Runwise was successfully installed in its 7,500th building this year, and is on track to break over $100M in energy saved across its buildings by year’s end. This is the equivalent of taking 100,000 cars off the road and represents a global scale of carbon reduction despite Runwise’s national reach.” - Lee Hoffman, co-founder and president of Runwise.
