Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight?
“Jessica Vilmenay leads Schuckman Realty’s leasing team for Long Island where she works diligently with landlords and tenants to help achieve their real estate goals. She has worked with national tenants such as Lidl Market, CVS Pharmacy, Cumberland Farms as well as large shopping center owners such as Midwood Development, Regency Center and Philips International.” - Jack Pierce, Director of Marketing at Schuckman Realty Inc.
What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of?
April will mark my 20th year with Schuckman Realty, and I am particularly proud of my work with LIDL Supermarkets. Partnering with Ken Schuckman, we developed a strategic market penetration analysis for Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. We successfully completed deals in notable areas like Downtown Brooklyn, Elmhurst, Park Slope, Crown Heights, Glen Oaks, Fresh Meadows, Deer Park and Garden City Park, with more locations pending announcement. This project stands out not only for its scale but also for the enjoyment and satisfaction I derive from contributing to LIDL’s expansion in these dynamic markets.
What are the most important factors young women should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with?
Young women should seek a firm that aligns with their values and ethical standards while offering opportunities for professional growth. When I joined Schuckman Realty in 2005 as a receptionist, I valued its supportive environment, which allowed me to grow from a beginner to a seasoned professional. It’s crucial to find a company that fosters continuous learning and provides accessible mentorship. Look for a workplace that encourages development from within and offers the tools and support needed to thrive in your career, ensuring both personal and professional fulfillment.
