Bronx, NY On Saturday, September 14th IREM is headed to Forest Houses Eco-Hub in the Bronx to volunteer with Green City Force (GFC), an organization that enlists and trains young people from low-income housing communities for a new and more equitable green economy. GFC equips young people with the tools to change the trajectory of their lives and access good jobs.
IREM will be weeding, mulching, planting, composting and...you get the idea!
Come dressed to work and get dirty (and have some fun too)! Boots or other closed toe shoes are a must.
We hope you’ll take a little time out of your weekend to do some good.
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Forest Houses Eco-Hub
730 East 165th St.
Morrisania, Bronx NY
Although this is a volunteering opportunity, IREM does require advance registration.
This year’s annual rooftop cocktail party is extra special! IREM chapter is celebrating its 70th Anniversary (kind of a big deal) and installing new 2024 CPM, ARM and ACoM members. Join the festivities on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:30 to 7:30 on the rooftop at 230 FIFTH. Generously sponsored by IREM NYC industry partners PNA Construction; Crown Products; Energo; Ascend Consulting Group and Bulovas Restorations.
On September 11, 2001, Stephen Siller, who was assigned to Brooklyn’s Squad 1, had just finished his shift when he got word over his scanner of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon hearing the news, Siller returned to Squad 1 to get his gear. He drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed. Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others. Tunnel to Towers traces Siller’s final steps on this earth.
To honor all of the heroes we lost that tragic day, IREM is getting a team together to participate in the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run and Walk on Sunday, September 29th. Go to T2t.org and look for team IREM NYC to join or to simply make a donation.
Six years ago, IREM launched the first Annual Clay Shooting Event, a day filled with camaraderie and competition that surpassed all expectations. Thanks to everyone’s generous support, we were able to write our chapter’s largest charitable check-to-date. Since then, we’ve continued to raise the bar, consistently breaking our own records year after year.
IREM’s Sixth Annual Sporting Clays Fundraiser will be held on Friday, October 4th, at Mid-Hudson Sporting Clays in New Paltz, NY. This event promises a full day of fun and philanthropy, featuring breakfast, lunch, exciting games, and raffles throughout the day. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to network with industry professionals from across the community.
All proceeds will benefit SHAREing & CAREing and GiGi’s Playhouse NYC, two organizations that do incredible work in the community. Your participation and support have been instrumental in our successes, and IREM invites you to join once again in making this year’s event the most successful yet. Please register today and mark your calendars for October 4th — it’s an opportunity not only to enjoy a day outdoors but also to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those supported by IREMs chosen charities. Thank you for your continued generosity and commitment to our shared mission. Together, we can make a significant impact and create lasting positive change.
