New York, NY WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate (WX) has publicized the second round of its partnership with Project Destined to provide diverse women in New York City with internship opportunities to explore ownership through current and previous real estate deals. WX members will mentor the Project Destined students for a series of months spanning their case competitions. In addition, WX will provide a three-part lecture series entitled “Careers in Real Estate” hosted by WX members discussing their roles in real estate across the building industry, finance/acquisitions and asset management.

Since its founding in 2016, Project Destined has worked with more than 7,000 participants across 1,300 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, and Europe. WX’s partnership will support Project Destined and its mission to provide training in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and real estate to students from underserved communities.

In mentoring another all-female Project Destined team, WX seeks to encourage young women to pursue real estate careers, in line with its mission to enhance the public perception of the role of women within the industry and promote the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and integrity in the field. “WX promotes the advancement of women in real estate throughout their careers and looks forward to the continued partnership with Project Destined,” said Jennifer Schwartzman, WX President.

Project Destined leverages a work-based learning approach where students join executives to evaluate actual commercial real estate deals in their community and compete in a pitch competition to industry leaders to earn scholarships. WX’s mentors will prepare, engage, and guide students one-on-one to help them develop a range of fundamentals—including financial, technical, presentation, and leadership skills—designed to aid them in obtaining internships, certifications, and full-time employment, launching their careers in commercial real estate.

WX is well-aware of the importance of investing in future generations, as WX launched a Scholars Program in 2004 to promote and support bright, talented young women pursuing careers in real estate and related professions in the New York metropolitan area. Since the program launched, scholarships have been awarded to 415 women at 18 schools, with scholarship value totaling more than $2 million.  Scholars have the opportunity to network with WX members, attend selected WX-hosted events, and participate in the WX Mentoring Program for two years.
