Kahen Properties appoints Ismael Leyva Architects to design 123,000 s/f mixed-use property at 1026 Third Ave.
Manhattan, NY Architect Ismael Leyva, FAIA, has designed a new luxury mixed-use property at 1026 Third Ave. in the Upper East Side. Ismael Leyva Architects was retained by Kahen Properties as the architect and interior designer of the project. Demolition was completed earlier this year, and construction has begun on the building foundation, according to principal/owner Alex Kahen.
The development consists of a 30-story 123,000 s/f building. Included in the design are 108 residences, with 1,000 s/f of commercial space on the ground floor fronting on Third Ave. The unit mix will consist of studio, one bedroom, and two-bedroom rental residences. A full complement of amenities for tenants includes a fitness center, indoor basketball court, and communal rooftop space for residents, totaling 4,000 s/f.
“We are thrilled to be working with Kahen Properties on this exciting development,” said Leyva. “In designing this development, we wanted to create a dynamic yet timeless form that you often see in the surrounding fine residential areas of the Upper East Side. We designed both the exterior and interior of the modern rental residences for those who desire to have an array of luxury amenities, within a building envelope that fits seamlessly into the East Side neighborhood where it is located.”
“The building has a modern yet classic feel, with unparalleled amenities in a location which maximizes access to the best that the Upper East Side and Manhattan has to offer. Great shopping, transportation, entertainment, restaurants, and cafes, all just a few steps away from the front door,” said Kahen.
