The Mortgage Bankers Association of New York Scholarship Foundation (the “Foundation”) has awarded seven scholarships for the Fall 2023 Semester.
This year marks the Foundation’s 6th successful year of awarding scholarships to students pursuing a real estate degree in a New York based school; representing an increase of total annual scholarships from five to seven. Richard Carr, managing director of Southwell Realty Capital, who serves as the Foundation’s Chairman, has overseen the growth of the reinvigorated Foundation. “I’m thrilled to lead such a dedicated team and impactful program. The real estate community has generously supported our Foundation as a viable conduit to give back and support the next generation.”
Carr further noted “Increasing the number of total scholarships and crossing the $100,000 threshold in total scholarships awarded over the past six (6) years speaks to the increased impact our team has had in working with emerging industry leaders and young professionals. I’m extremely proud that the students earning scholarships this year represent the diversity of our industry.”
Contributing to the increase of total scholarships in 2023 is the newly created Cycamore Scholar, endowed by Cycamore Capital for a student who demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit. “We are delighted to award the inaugural Cycamore Scholar this year in partnership with the MBA of NY Scholarship Foundation. This scholarship represents our commitment to the next generation of real estate professionals and those looking to become entrepreneurs,” says Johnny Din, CEO of Cycamore Capital and adjunct real estate professor at Columbia University, Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation; New York University, Schack Institute of Real Estate; and Fordham University, Real Estate Institute.
