Manhattan, NY Attorneys Barbara Shachnow and Mitchell Snow have joined the Adler & Stachenfeld LLP (A&S) as partners in the finance practice group and tax practice group.
The new hires come after the firm welcomed Joseph Kornbluh as a corporate real estate partner.
“When real estate markets experience dislocations, like now, or during the global financial crisis, they can be difficult to navigate, but it’s also when the value of our pure play model gets proven out,” said Bruce Stachenfeld, chairman of Adler & Stachenfeld. “Yes, it is scary to take a hiring plunge during dark times but that is exactly what we do. And we are over the moon with our superstar new hires, all from top real estate law practices. Adler & Stachenfeld is in growth mode.”
Shachnow, who has over 30 years of experience at major law firms, is a significant addition to Adler & Stachenfeld’s rapidly growing real estate finance practice. She is expected to immediately be called upon to leverage her extensive experience in workouts and restructuring, given that the majority of real estate industry participants are navigating the challenges and opportunities of distress. Shachnow joins A&S from Dechert LLP.
“In the short time I have been with A&S, I’ve already experienced the energy and positive results of the firm’s powerful client-business-building model,” said Shachnow. “It gives me a way of counseling and assisting clients I have thought about but have never been able to put into practice until now.”
Snow has spent his career in all aspects of real estate taxation, with a specialization in REITs. In 2022, for the second consecutive year, the legal directory Chambers & Partners ranked Snow as a leading tax attorney in New York. He joins Adler & Stachenfeld from Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP.
“Joining a firm with this singular focus on real estate is a perfect next step for me,” said Snow. “As a real estate tax attorney, it’s a pleasure to be working for a law firm with such a defined real estate focus, and to be working with Stephen Land, whose reputation in tax law is renowned in New York City.”
“We are building an exceptional real estate law franchise and these new partners will be core players for us,” said Terri Adler, A&S managing partner. “We have accomplished a lot in our first 25 years, and this infusion of talent positions us to continue our growth for decades to come.”
