New York, NY Lee & Associates NYC represented the landlord, Kensington House NY LLC in a new 12-year lease with The Sleeping Cat for its first New York City location at 160 Seventh Ave. in Chelsea. The lease consists of 1,500 s/f on the ground floor and basement.
Richard Kave from Lee & Associates NYC represented Kensington House NY LLC, and Margie Sarway from Sinvin Realty represented The Sleeping Cat in the transaction. The space was previously occupied by Le Singe Bistro.
The Sleeping Cat, a new bakery offering classic desserts and baked goods in a welcoming and comfortable space, joins what has become known as a ‘food block’ in the Chelsea neighborhood. The bakery joins other local establishments including Peter McManus café, Elmo’s Restaurant, Craft & Carry Beer Tasting Room, Baggios Pizzeria empowered by Slice, and Merci Gourmet Deli.
“This transaction was a win-win for both the landlord and the tenant,” said Richard Kave, executive managing firector. “Our client, who has owned the property for many years and owns majority of the properties within the block, has been determined to maintain the local feel by leasing to local businesses. We’re excited to be able to achieve their goal with the addition of The Sleeping Cat, which is opening its first New York City location in a fantastic neighborhood.”
The Sleeping Cat is anticipating its grand opening this fall.
