What was a pivotal point in your career? Early into my career, I wanted more challenges and the chance to learn different, more technical mechanical systems. As a result, I was assigned as project manager and lead mechanical on the new 400,000 s/f Major League Baseball headquarters. I was excited to be learning new mechanical systems as well as other trades, such as plumbing and fire protection. I was leading large meetings, fielding questions, solving problems, and became the face of the project for AMA. This experience taught me a client-facing position was the right fit for me, especially being a woman in such a male dominated industry!
In the past year, what project or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of the new studio complex we designed at Bush Terminal for Steiner Studios. This new-build and renovation project consisted of 730,000 s/f of campus. I worked on the studio portion, consisting of eight, 16,000 s/f sound stages with associated green rooms, production suites, scenic shops, and more. This project was particularly meaningful to me because when I interned at AMA 11 years ago, Steiner Studios was the first client I worked with alongside my mentor. When I was slated as the project manager for this build-out, it was a full circle moment that produced incredible work!
