CB Richard Ellis arranges sale of 150,000 s/f pharmaceutical facility

The team of Steve Blake and Lida Mychaskiw of CB Richard Ellis|Buffalo, in conjunction with Scott Brandwein and Tom Sullivan of CB Richard Ellis Life Sciences Group, have brokered the sale of a 150,000 s/f pharmaceutical facility to APP Pharmaceuticals Inc. The seller, Astellas Pharma Manufacturing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Astellas Pharma Inc., will continue to manufacturer Protopic, used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis, at the location until the spring of 2009 at which time manufacturing of this product will shift to Astella's Toyama plant located in Japan. Thomas Silberg, APP's president and CEO, said, "This acquisition adds needed manufacturing capacity, complements our existing operations in Grand Island and facilitates the continued growth of our business." CBRE worked closely with David Tyler of the Buffalo Niagara Enterprise along with assistance from the Erie County Industrial Development Agency, which provided an abatement package and Empire State Development Corp. to facilitate the transaction.
