Tell us about a mentor or role model that has influenced your career choices?
Having grown up watching my father build and grow his art studio continues to be an inspiration. His sense of discipline, encouragement for creative exploration and love for craft undoubtedly lead to my love for architecture and design. I’m also endlessly inspired by the group of boldly talented women I get to work with every day.
What 3 skills do you consider the most important to be successful in your industry?
The ability to listen to clients wants and needs and being able to guide the process is key in a collaborative relationship. Creating a design thread through storytelling is also infinitely powerful. It anchors and provides sustenance to all design decisions and will result in experiences that feel unique to a particular space.
What is one lesson that you had to learn the hard way?
Finding a delicate balance between family and career can be a constant challenge but building a strong support system around you can allow for both to thrive. Remaining structured but flexible help in navigating the unexpected occurrences in these two worlds. The ultimate goal is to feel fulfilled in both professional and personal life.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I never tire of the city - it’s an endless source of inspiration. The level of access and exposure to all things cultural is truly unmatched. And It’s now such a unique experience to see it all through the lens and perspective of a child. Navigating the city by his side and knowing all of it will shape and influence his understanding of the world is truly special.
What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Fogarty Finger team working on the interior design for 300 Nevins St. in Brooklyn. The design explores the blurring of traditional programmatic boundaries and provides unique spatial experiences centered on two key concepts, Wellness and Entertainment. Thoughtful integration of art and landscape, results in meaningful spaces that feel inspirational and uniquely connected to its community and history.
