New York, NY Bellet Construction has finalized the installation of a nearly blockwide roof surface atop the Manhattan School of Music’s (MSM) academic center at 130 Claremont Ave., between 122nd and 123rd St.
The project entailed ripping out the old roof to the substrate and replacing it with a new, high-efficiency roofing system. In addition, the roof Bellet Construction installed has a 20-year, no-dollar-limit (NDL) warranty, which will protect the school in the event of possible damage from the elements, such as extreme weather conditions, heavy storms, fire, etc.
“Although this building dates back to 1910, it displays minimal wear and tear, thanks to scrupulous maintenance by a top facilities and operations team,” said Wayne Bellet, president of Bellet Construction. “We have worked with this group on multiple projects for more than 15 years and their knowledge of preservation protocols and building maintenance is clearly evident, as is their commitment to this institution.”
Brian Greaney, associate vice [resident of Facilities and Campus Safety, “We value our relationship with Bellet Construction and appreciate the way they are willing to work with us on cost-effective solutions. Their assessments have proved to be honest and realistic, enabling us to maintain our buildings at peak capacity and within budget.”
The roof replacement represents one of many projects the roofing and restoration expert has implemented at the august institution’s venues since 2007. Over the years, Bellet has implemented Local Law 11/98/FISP repairs on both the current building and the contiguous student residence at 136 Claremont Avenue, limestone façade restorations, repairs on the iconic ornamental ledge that crowns the school, and other restorations.
