Levinson of L&L Holding to speak at YM/WREA's Oct. 14 meeting

The Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association (YM/WREA) will hold a meeting on October 14. The featured guest speaker is David Levinson. He serves as chairman & CEO of L&L Holding Co., LLC, which he co-founded with Robert Lapidus in June 2000. L&L Holding Co. is a privately owned real estate investment and development company. Levinson's responsibilities include the strategic direction of the company, development, acquisitions, marketing and leasing. Since inception, L&L has acquired assets approaching 5 million s/f of commercial office space with a value of $3 billion. In 2003, L&L received BOMA's Renovation of the Year award for the renovation and restoration of 150 Fifth Ave. The New York Post recognized L&L as one of the city's top property owners. He served as vice chairman of CBRE until August 2005. Prior to their acquisition of Insignia/ESG, Inc. in June 2003, He served as vice chairman. His civic responsibilities include appointments to the board of trustees of the Intrepid Museum as well as serving as a member of their exhibits and education committee, the board of governors of the Real Estate Board of New York, board member of the Alliance for Downtown New York and board member and executive committee member of the Friends of the Upper East Side Historic Districts. He served as the chairman of the New York Academy of Art for four years and as a trustee for ten years. The NYAA is a graduate school in TriBeCa that offers a master's of fine arts degree. For 12 years, he served on the board of trustees of The Allen Stevenson School where he also served as a member of the building & grounds committee and chairman of the long range planning committee. In 2004, he received the M. Anthony Fisher Memorial Award from the Association for the Help of Retarded Children and was honored by Symphony Space in 2007. The New York Observer named him one of The 100 Most Powerful People in New York Real Estate in May. In November, he will receive the Israel Peace Medal from the State of Israel Bonds Real Estate Builders and Allied Industries Division.
