What did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was younger, I thought I wanted to be a teacher or architect. I had always excelled in math and science while also being fascinated by all forms of art. I always knew those two pieces would somehow be incorporated into my future career.

What led you to your current profession?

My passion for design and problem solving led me to a career in interior design. I am able to be creative and innovative while always learning technically as I develop design concepts to construction documents. The concept of every project is different and unique allowing for new design and challenges.

In the past year, what project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of?

In the past year, the accomplishment I am the proudest of is passing all three parts of NCIDQ examination which is a certification exam required to become a licensed professional. This exam distinguishes interior designers demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of current codes along with the core proficiencies of the interior design profession.

Who was/is your mentor and how did s/he influence/help you in your career?

My mentor is my current supervisor. He challenges me professionally and has taught me the importance of stepping outside of your comfort zone and taking on new experiences that challenge you. In my career, this is where I have found the most growth professionally. I have also found that having a mentor that has a vested interest in the development of your career path is important. He cares about the advancement and success of my career.
