Westbury, NY IREON and BOMA joined forces to host a 90-minute webinar with three prominent candidates for the 2021 New York City Council elections to hear their views on how the real estate community will be participating in the revitalization of a post-pandemic city.
New York Real Estate Journal publisher Kristine Wolf moderated the discussion with a panel that included Manhattan borough president Gale Brewer, who is running for her former District 6 seat, comprising parts of Midtown West to Lincoln Square and the Upper West Side; Susan Damplo, who is running for District 1, encompassing the Financial District, Tribeca, Soho, NoHo, the Lower East Side, and South Village; and Benjamin Solotaire, a candidate for Brooklyn’s massive District 33, spanning Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO, Fulton Ferry, Greenpoint, Vinegar Hill, and Williamsburg. Following introductions from each of the candidates, who described their backgrounds and reasons for running, a lively Q&A ensued, covering a host of topics germane to various aspects of the real estate industry. IREON Founder/COO Steve Kirschner closed the session by thanking the candidates and promising more in-depth events with elected officials, city agency directors, and more.
