September 22, 2008 - Brokerage
Mayor Robert Duffy joined the Department of Environmental Services commissioner Paul Holahan, neighborhood and business leaders to celebrate the completion of the West Main St. revitalization project in the Susan B. Anthony neighborhood. The streetscape enhancements were designed to improve public infrastructure and encourage redevelopment of underutilized properties. The streetscape project, which was completed this summer, supports safe and easy access to neighborhood businesses from a formerly vacant city parking lot, which has been landscaped. In addition to linking businesses with customer parking, a new miniature park provides residents with a gathering spot. The project also features inlaid crosswalks and pavement enhancements. Funding for the $1.3 million project was secured by assemblyman David Gantt ($250,000), and the city ($1 million).
